HomeMy WebLinkAboutBRU 80 012 Mill rates 1980 CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE BY-LAW NO. BO-12 , BEING A BY-LAW to fix the rate of levy, special charges, penalties and interest according to the last revised assessment roll. WHEREAS the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, Section 302, Section 517 and Section 527 requires that the Council of every Municipality in each year shall levy on the whole assessment for property and business, according to the latest revised assessment roll, and for the places of collection. NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Bruce enacts as follows: (1) That to meet current expenditures of the Corporation of the Township of Bruce the rates on the whole assessment according to the latest revised assessment roll shall be: Residential Business and and Farm Commercial P.S. 5.5. County of Bruce 2.75 2.75 3.24 3.24 Elementary School 7.06 8.08 8.30 9.51 Secondary School 6.95 6.95 8.18 8.18 General Government 6.75 6.75 7.94 7.94 23.51 24.53 27.66 28.87 (2) That the current taxes for the year 1980 may be paid at the chartered banks in the Towns of Port Elgin and Kincardine, the Villages of Tiverton and Paisley, with no additional charge to the Municipality, up to and including the due date only of the said taxes. Also at the Municipal Office in Underwood during business hours. (3) That there shall be a penalty of one and one-quarter per cent (1~%) per month on all current outstanding taxes after the due date. (4) That the rate of interest shall be of the statutory rate of one and one-quarter per cent (1~%) per month on all outstanding taxes commencing on the First day of January 1981. -2- (5) That where the sum of the taxes for which a person is chargeable in any year upon any real property assessed in one parcel, the same owner, according to the assessment thereon be less than ten dollars ($10.00) the sum shall be ten dollars ($10.00). (6) That the taxes shall be collected twice in the year, and shall be due on the Thirtieth day of May, 1980 and the Thirtieth day of October, 19BO. (7) That should it be necessary to issue additional tax billing as provide for by the Assessment Act or any other Act, the same shall be forwarded to the assessed owner and such amounts will be subject to the procedures and provisions set out in this by-law. (8) That the street light charge in the Hamlet of Glamis shall be at the rate of eleven dollars ($11.00) per annum. (9) That the street light charge in the Hamlet of Underwood shall be at the rate of twenty-six dollars ($26.00) per annum. (10) That the Waterwork service charge in the Hamlet of Underwood be set at the rate of fifty dollars ($50.00) per annum to the assessed owners who are connected to the Municipal System. (11) That Municipal Drain, Tile Drainage Loans, Waterworks capital cost and service charge, and Street light charges be placed on the Collector's Roll in relation to schedules and by-laws relating thereto. By-law introduced and read a First time this 15th day of JULY, 1980. Read a Second time this 15th day of JULY, 1980. Read a Third time this 15th day of JULY, 1980.
