HomeMy WebLinkAboutBRU 81 013 mill rates for 1981 CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE BY-LAW NO. 81-13 BEING A BY-LAW to fix the rate of levy, special charges, penalties and interest according to the last revised assessment roll. WHEREAS the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, Section 302, 303, 517, 527 and 553 and amendments thereto requires that the council of every municipality in each year shall levy on the whole assessment for property and business, according to the latest revised assessment roll and for the places of collection. NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Bruce enacts as follows: (1) That to meet the current expenditures of the Corporation of the Township of Bruce the rates on the whole assessment according to the latest revised assessment roll shall be: Residential & Farm Business & Commercial Public Separate Public Separate County of Bruce 3.75 3.75 4.41 4.41 Elementary School 7.56 8.63 8.90 10.15 Secondary School 7.04 7.04 8.28 8.28 General Government 7.75 7.75 9.13 9.13 TOTAL 26.10 27.17 30.72 31.97 (2) That the current taxes for the year 1981 may be paid at the chartered banks in the towns of Port Elgin and Kincardine, the Villages of Paisley and Tiverton with no additional charge to the municipality, up to and including the due date only of the said taxes, or at the Municipal Office in Underwood during business hours. (3) That there shall be a penalty of one and one quarter per cent (1~%) per month on all current outstanding taxes after the due date. (4) That the rate of interest shall be at the Statutory rate of one and one quarter per cent (1~) per month or as promulgated from time to time on all outstanding taxes commencing on the First day of January 1982. (5) That where the sum of the taxes for which a person is chargeable in any one year upon any real property assessed in one parcel, the same owner according to the assessment thereon be less than ten dollars ($10.00) the sum shall be ten dollars. ($10.00) (6) That the taxes shall be collected twice in the year and shall be due on the Twenty Eighth day of May 1981 and the Twenty Eighth day of October 1981. -2- (7) Should it be necessary to issue additional tax billings as provided for by the Assessment Act or any other Act the same shall be forwarded to the assessed owner and such amounts will be subject to the procedures and provisions set out in this by-law. (8) That the street light charges in the Hamlet of Glammis shall be at the rate of twelve dollars ($12.00) per annum. (9) That the street light charges in the Hamlet of Underwood shall be set at the rate of twenty-six dollars ($26.00) per annum. (10) That the waterwork service charge in the Hamlet of Underwood be set at the r.ate of sixty dollars ($60.00) per annum to each connection to the municipal system. (11) That Municipal Drain charges, Tile Drainage loans, Waterworks Capital Costs and service charge and street light charges be placed on the Collectors Roll in relation to schedules and by-laws relating thereto. By-law introduced and read a First time this SECOND day of JULY, 1981. By-law read a Second time this SECOND day of JULY, 1981.
