MUNICIPAL DRAIN 115
CALDWELL DRAIN
PROPOSED WORK
While full details of the proposed work within this report can
be obtained from the profile and specification, a short description
follows. In designing this drain, a drainage co-efficient of
~" in 24 hours has been used which is a commonly utilized co-efficient
for lands to be used for cash crop purposes.
It is proposed to install a catchbasin on either side of Sideroad
30 with a corrugated steel pipe roadcrossing through Sideroad
30. It is then proposed to install a tile drain proceeding
easterly through Lot 31, 32, 33, 34 and a portion of 35 to outlet
in an open drain in the northwest corner of Lot 35. The open
drain will then proceed northerly then easterly to a point which
achieves adequate outlet. The open portion of the drain will
be approximately 400 m in length while the closed portion of
the main drain, extending from the upstream end of the open
drain westerly to the Sideroad 30-31, will be approximately
2,360 m in length. At the lot lines and at points where tile
connections are likely to be made, junction box catchbasins
have been provided. Approximately 264 m from the beginning
of the open drain, a Branch A will join the main drain and proceed
southwesterly to eventually end in a catchbasin in the southeast
corner of Lot 33 adjacent to Concession Road 10-11. A small
Branch B is proposed from Sta. 0+675 on the main drain to run
southwesterly to the lot line between Lots 33 and 34, where
a catchbasin junction box will be installed.
Lot 31, Concession 11, has been systematically tiled. In order
to disrupt that system as little as possible, it is proposed
to install the municipal drain to the south of the low run which
proceeds easterly through Lot 31. Reconnections of tile encountered
will be made for lateral drains, while connections for main
branches of a private system will be made to the municipal drain.
Through the east part of Lot 34 and Lot 35 where a main drain
presently exists, the municipal drain will be installed generally
to the north and west of the low run.
