BEING A BY-LAW to fix the rate of levy, special charges, penalties and interest
according to the last revised assessment roll.
WHEREAS the Municipal Act R.S.O. 19BO, Chapter 302, Section l5B, 159, 361, 379, 3B6,
412 and amendments thereto requires that the Council of every Municipality in each
year shall levy tax on the whole assessment for property and business according to
the latest revised assessment roll and for the places of collection.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Bruce enacts as
follows:
(1) To meet the current expenditures of the Corporation of the Township of Bruce.
The rates on the whole assessment according to the latest revised assessment
roll shall be:

(2) The current arrears of taxes shall only be accepted at the Municipal Office in
Underwood during normal business hours.
(3) That current taxes shall be collected four times a year during the months of
February, May, August and November.
(4) That penalty and interest shall be at the rate established by the Municipal
Act at l~% per month, the first day of default and on the first day of each
calendar month.
(5) That where the sum of the taxes for which a person is chargeable in anyone
year upon any real property assessed in one parcel, the same owner according
to the assessment thereon be less than ten dollars ($10.00), then the sum shall
be ten dollars ($10.00).
(6) Should it be necessary to issue additional tax billings as provided for by
the Assessment Act or any other Act or By-law, the same shall be forwarded to
the assessed owner and such amounts will be subject to the procedures and
provisions as set out in this by-law.
(7) That the streetlight charges for the assessed owners in the Hamlet of Glammis
shall be set at the rate of sixteen dollars ($16.00) per annum.
(B) That the streetlight charges for assessed owners in the Hamlet of Underwood
shall be at the rate of thirty dollars ($30.00) per annum.
