HomeMy WebLinkAboutBRU 88 020 Mill Rate 1988 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE BY-LAW NO. 88-20 BEING A BY-LAW to fix the rate of levy, penalties and interest according to the last Roll. special charges, revised Assessment WHEREAS the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, Section 158, 159, 361, 379, 386, 412, and amendments thereto requires that the Council of every Municipality in each year shall levy tax on the whole assessment for property and business according to the latest revised Assessment Roll and for the places of collection. NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Bruce enacts as follows: (1) To meet the current expenditures of The Corporation of the Township of Bruce. The rates on the whole assessment according to the latest revised Assessment Roll shall be: Res. & Farm Bus. & Comm Public Seoarate Public SeDarate County of Bruce 9.55 9.55 11. 24 11. 24 Elementary 17.11 14.52 20.13 17.08 Secondary 11. 50 13.77 13.52 16.20 General 12.44 12.44 14.64 14.64 50.60 50.28 59.53 59.16 (2) The current taxes shall be collected four times a year during the months of February, May, August, and November. (3) The current and arrears of taxes shall only be accepted at the Municipal Office in Underwood during normal business hours. (4) That penalty and interest shall be at the statutory rate established by the Municipal Act at 1 1/4\ per month, the first day of default and on the first day of each calendar month. (5) That where the sum of the taxes for which a person is chargeable in anyone year upon any real property assessed in one parcel, the same owner according to the assessment thereon be less than ten dollars ($10.00), then the sum shall be ten dollars ($10.00). - - -e THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE BY-LAW NO. 88-20 PAGE 2 (6) Should it be necessary to issue additional tax billings as provided for by the Assessment Act or any other Act or By- law, the same shall be forwarded to the assessed owner and such amounts will be subject to the procedures and provisions as set out in this by-law. (7) That the streetlight charges for the assessed owners in the Hamlet of Glammis shall be set at the rate of twenty-two dollars ($22.00) per annum. (8) That the streetlight charges for assessed owners in the Hamlet of Underwood shall be at the rate of thirty-six dollars ($36.00) per annum. THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE BY-LAW NO. 88-20 PAGE 3 (12) That Municipal Drain charges, drain cleanouts, waterworks capital costs, waterworks service charges, streetlight charges, line fences awards, hydro arrears, and weed charges be placed on the Collector's Roll pursuant to the relative by-laws, schedules, and statutory authorizations as required from time to time. By-law introduced and read a First time this FIRST day of JUNE, 1988. By-law read a Second time this FIRST day of JUNE, 1988.
