BEING A BY -LAW TO ESTABLISH A 911 ROAD RENAMING SYSTEM
FOR THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF KINCARDINE
WHEREAS Section 210(111) of the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1990, Chapter M.45 as
amended, provides that a by -law may be passed to provide for surveying, settling
and marking the boundary lines of highways and giving names to them or
changing their names, and for affixing the names at the corners thereof, on public
or private property;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Kincardine
deems it expedient and necessary to adopt road names for the Civic Addressing
System and for other purposes including the delivery of emergency services and
to provide authority to administration for its implementation;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of
Kincardine ENACTS as follows:
1.0 Concession presently known as Concession 10 in the former
Township of Kincardine presently known as Ward 2 in the
Municipality of Kincardine will be changed as follows:
1.1 Concession 10 shall hereafter be called and known as Concession 11
2.0 Streets being renamed within the Municipality of Kincardine will be
changed as follows:
2.1 Albert Street, Ward 3 shall hereafter be called and known as Webster
Street
2.2 Bruce Street, Ward 3 shall hereafter be called and known as Sara Street
2.3 Cameron Court, Ward 1 shall hereafter be called and known as Evergreen
Court
2.4 Campbell Street, Ward 3 shall hereafter be called and known as Energy
Park Road
2.5 Goderich Lane, Ward 1 shall hereafter be called and known as Goderich
Street

2.35 Albert Street, Ward 1 shall hereafter be called and known as St. Albert

2.36 Kin -Huron Road, Ward 1, shall hereafter be called and known as Saratoga
Road (By -law No. 2003 -124)
2.37 Lane shown on Plan 210, being a subdivision of Lot 1 on Plan 55, formerly in
the Village of Tiverton, now in the Municipality of Kincardine, County of Bruce
shall hereafter be called and known as Leggett Lane (By -law No. 2003 -164)
2.38 Highway located in Ward 2 of the Municipality of Kincardine and known as
Side Road 25 be changed to Weber Side Road (By -law No. 2005 -106)
2.39 Highway located in Ward 2 and known as Spruce Lane be changed to
Sprucewood Lane (By -law No. 2005 -106)
2.40 Highway located in Ward 3 of the Municipality of Kincardine and known as
Cedar Lane be changed to Cedarwood Lane (By -law No. 2005 -106)
2.41 Roadway located in Ward 3 of the Municipality of Kincardine and known
as Concession 6, west of Tie Road, be changed to Baie du dore Road
(By -law No. 2006 -076)
2.42 Roadway located in Ward 3 and known as Concession 8, west of Tie
Road, be changed to Scott's Point Road (By -law No. 2006 -076)
(By -law 2003 — 79):
1. That the following clauses be added to By -law 2002 — 130:
i) The owner of the property shall ensure that every property has the
assigned municipal number posted in accordance with the
provisions of this By -law.
ii) The owner of the property shall ensure that every number shall be
affixed or inscribed in plain and legible numbers at least 12.7
centimeters (5 inches) high and such numbers shall be placed at
the main entrance of the building and on the side of the building
facing the street or highway, placed not higher than the first story
thereof.
iii) Where the main building is located beyond 30 meters (100 feet) of
the highway allowance or the main building is obscured from the
highway by trees, buildings, crops, etc., the building number shall
be placed on a contrasting plate attached to a post at a height of at
least 1.5 meters (5 feet) above the ground at the front of the

property line adjacent to the building's laneway, unobstructed by
mailboxes, etc.
iv) In the event that the owner of the property fails to post the building
numbers as directed by the Emergency Planning Co- ordinator, the
municipal staff may enter upon the property and post the building number
in accordance with the By -law and the cost shall be paid by the owner of
the land in a like manner as taxes.
v) The owner of the property shall keep and maintain in good
condition the building number and, where applicable, the
contrasting plates.
vi) No person shall refuse to post the building number when required
to do so by the Emergency Planning Co- ordinator.
vii) No person shall remove, deface, obliterate or destroy the building
numbers and applicable plates installed in accordance with item ii)
& iii) of this By -law, except for the purpose of replacing said
numbers and plates or correcting errors.
viii) Any person who contravenes any provision of this By -law is, upon
conviction, guilty of an offence and is liable to any penalty as
provided in the Provincial Offences Act.
2. That certain municipal house numbers, as shown in the attached
Schedule "A" to this by -law, be changed for the purpose of uniformity.
3.0 This by -law shall come into full force and effect upon its final passing.
4.0 This by -law may be cited as the "Municipality of Kincardine 911 Road
Renaming System By- Law ".
