All callout of snow removal equipment when required by the road superintendent replacement. shall be called out or his designated 2. The first priority must be to remove snow from the travelled portion of winter maintained roads prior to completing any other snow removal projects. 3. Whenever snow plowing is required all reasonable attempts shall be made to ensure that someone is, available to answer the telephone. This will ensure prompt emergency response. This policy will address two problems that have been experienced during the last year: a) by having someone ( most likely the Road Supt.) in the office when equipment is on the road, all ratepayers. and emergency services will be able to communicate with the Roads Dept. An incident occurred last year when the principal of Bruce Central could not reach me as I was plowing the parking lot. As a result school was postponed as accurate up to date road condition reports where not available. b) In the event an accident does occur this policy will ensure that every possible precaution has been taken. The drawback to this arrangement is plowing the parking lot will not commence until either all roads have been plowed or the first of the office staff arrives. ~ \f . ~ LEVEL OF SERVICE POLICY SNOW PLOWING/ICE BLADING OBJECTIVES: To maintain safe, passable public transportation and school bus routes. - To facilitate the handling of emergencies - To reduce the hazards of icy roads to motorists - To reduce economic losses to the community caused by workers not being able to get to their jobs.
