HomeMy WebLinkAboutBRU 94 009 nuclear emerg plan THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE BY-LAW NO. 94-9 A BY-LAW formulating or providing for the formulation of a Municipal Nuclear Emergency Plan and the manner in which employees of the municipality and other persons and agencies will respond to a nuclear emergency arising from a problem at the Bruce Nuclear Power Development. WHEREAS, Section 8 of the Emergency Plans Act, 1983, Chapter 30, R.S.O. requires the Lieutenant Governor in Council to formulate an emergency plan respecting emergencies arising in connection with nuclear facilities, called the Provincial Nuclear Emergency Plan. AND WHEREAS the Provincial Nuclear Emergency Plan, Parts I and III require the Township of Bruce, the Township of Kincardine, and the Village of Tiverton to formulate a Municipal Nuclear Emergency Plan which conforms to the Provincial Plan. AND WHEREAS Section 3 of the Emergency Plans Act, 1983, Chapter 30, R.S.O. provides for the Council of a municipality to pass a by-law formulating or providing for the formulation of an emergency plan. AND WHEREAS it is in the best interest of the citizens of the Township of Bruce to have an emergency plan which identifies the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency arising from a problem at the BNPD. NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Township of Bruce enacts as foIl ows: 1. That the Bruce Municipal Nuclear Emergency Plan, Revision 2, dated March 1994 be put into effect upon the passing of this by-law. 2. That where an existing by-law has any sections which conflict with this Municipal Nuclear Emergency Plan, the sections of this new by-law shall take precedence over the existing by-law. . 3. That the Reeve and authorized to sign on documents necessary transaction. Clerk shall be and are hereby behalf of the Township of Bruce all to effectively complete this .
