WHEREAS the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter M.45, Section 101 and Section 102 authorizes a Municipality to pass by-laws. NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Bruce deems it expedient that a Smoking in the Work place Policy be established, and enacts as follows: 1. That the Township of Bruce Smoking in the Work place Policy, a copy of which is attached as a schedule and forms an integral part of this by-law, is hereby authorized and approved by the Council of the Township of Bruce. 2. That this Smoking in the Work Place Policy be copied for the employees and posted in the work place on July 15th, 1995. 3. The Smoking in the Work Place Policy will be effective September 15th, 1995. 4. That the appropriate designation signs be ordered and posted on September 15th, 1995. By-law introduced and read a First time this ELEVENTH day of JULY, 1995. By-law read a Second time this ELEVENTH day of JULY, 1995. To provide a safer, healthier work place for ALL employees. 2. To increase understanding about the heal th concerns related to tobacco use, second hand smoke, and the work place. 3. To provide support to those employees who wish to qui t smoking. RESTRICTIOIfS 1. Smoking is prohibited in all interior areas of the Bruce Township Municipal Office areas, as of September 15th, 1995, except the kitchen area north of the counci I Chambers and the office known as the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer's Office. 2. .,his policy does not affect that portion of the building known as the Community Centre. COJOIUIII CATIOIfS 1. Managers/supervisors will distribute copies of this policy to ALL employees and verbally explain contents. 2. Managers/supervisors shall assist any interested employees with obtaining information regarding smoking cessations programs. REVIEW 1.
