BY-LAN RO. 96-27 BEING A BY-LAW to adopt a False Fire Alarm Policy in the Township of Bruce. WHEREAS the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter M.45, Section 101 and Section 102 authorizes a Municipality to pass by-laws. NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Bruce deems it expedient that a False Fire Alarm Policy be established, and enacts as follows: 1. That the Township of Bruce False Fire Alarm Policy, a copy of which is attached as a schedule and forms an integral part of this by-law, is hereby authorized and approved by the Council of the Township of Bruce. 2. The False Fire Alarm Policy will be effective January 1st, 1997. By-law introduced and read a First time this TWELFTH day of NOVEMBER, 1996. '!'BB CORPORATION OF '!'BB TOWNSHIP OF BRUCB FALSE ALARM POLICY Bruce Township Council accept the following as a Bruce Township policy for false alarms in Bruce Township. That the following policy shall apply with respect to false fire alarms causing a response by the 'I'iverton and District or Paisley and District Fire Departments. 1. Businesses and/or individuals are permitted a maximum of two (2) false fire alarms in any calendar year with no requirement to reimburse the costs of response. 2. Every false ala~ in excess of two (2) per year shall result in an invoice being generated to the business or individual in order to recover the costs of the response. The building owner shall be charged a rate of $300.00 per truck responding to the call. 3. The Fire Chief shall assist all property owners who request assistance in solving false ala~ problems with their properties in order to improve the effectiveness of the response system. 4. Copies of this policy shall be forwarded to both the Paisley and District Fire Department and the Tiverton and District Fire Department and any businesses or individual who has received correspondence related to false alarms.
