HomeMy WebLinkAboutTIV 87 005 keep animals in vill VILLAGE OF TIVERTON ~7 -!i BY-LAW NUMBER Ii- BEING a By-law to regulate the keeping of animals within the limits of the Village of Tiverton pursuant to the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, Section 210 Item 1. NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Village of Tiverton ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. In this by-law: a) "Animal" shall mean any variety of domestic, wild or tame animal and shall include birds and reptiles. . b) "Pets" shall mean dogs, cats and other small animals when kept solely as pets on the premises actually occupied as a residence by their owner and not kept or raised for profit, but shall not include any horse, colt, cattle, mule, donkey, goat, sheep, swine or fowl. 2. Any person violating any prov>s>ons of this by-law shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a penalty of $200.00 for the first offence, and not more than $2,000.00 for each subsequent offence, exclusive of costs, and all such penalties shall be recoverable under the Provincial Offences Act., R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 400, as amended. 3. No householder shall keep or permit any other person to keep in or upon any lands, buildings or premises at any time more than two (2) dogs. 4. No person shall keep, maintain, feed, house, store or secure any animal, whether mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian or insect, other than a pet within the limits of the Village of Tiverton, except where such use predates the passing of this by-law. 5. This by-law shall take effect from the date of passage by Council.
