OF KINCARDINE BY-LAW NO. ~4 BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF Nancy Marwood Lambert at 750 Princes Street of Architectural Value. . WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980 authorizes the Council of a municipality to enact By-laws to designate real property including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be in historic or architectural value or interest; and WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Kincardine has caused to be served upon the owner of the lands and premises known as the home of Nancy Marwood Lambert at 750 Princes Street and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notice of intention to so designate the aforesaid real property and has caused such notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having a general circulation in the municipality once for each of three consecutive weeks; and WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out in Schedule "B" hereto. and; WHEREAS no notice of objection to the said proposed designation has been served upon the Clerk of the Municipality; THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Kincardine enacts as follows: 1. There is designated as being of architectural value or interest the real property more particularly described in Schedule "A" hereto, known as the home of Nancy Marwood Lambert at 750 Princes Street. 2. The Town Solicitor is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this By-law to be registered against the property described in Schedule "A" hereto in the proper land registry office. 3. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this By-law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation and to cause notice of this By-law to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the Town of Kincardine. SCHEDULE "A" ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate lying and being in the Town of Kincardine in the County of Bruce and being composed of sub-division Lot No. 1 of lots four (4) and five (5) on the north side of Durham Market in the said Town of Kincardine, according to Plan 169 registered in Land Registry Office for the County of Bruce. e . REASONS: . By-law 4524 SCHEDULE "an The dwelling is a Regency cottage built around 1875 with a lower hip roof giving it the cottage effect. It has a decorative gable on the front, centre door with transom, side lights, and windows with rounded headers and small front porch. These architectural features are worth preserving. The cottage is of historical value to the heritage of the Town and originally known as the Scougall home. John Scougall came to Canada from England an early citizen of Kincardine connected with banking and municipal affairs, becoming the clerk in the early 1880's for a period of over 40 years. Mr. Scougall had four daughters and one son. Mrs. Dora Foster, the last remaining member of the family and mothcer of the present owner passed away in 1982.
