The dwelling is a Regency cottage built around 1875
with a lower hip roof giving it the cottage effect.
It has a decorative gable on the front, centre door
with transom, side lights, and windows with rounded
headers and small front porch. These architectural
features are worth preserving. The cottage is of
historical value to the heritage of the Town and
originally known as the Scougall home. John Scougall
came to Canada from England an early citizen of
Kincardine connected with banking and municipal
affairs, becoming the clerk in the early 1880's
for a period of over 40 years. Mr. Scougall had four
daughters and one son. Mrs. Dora Foster, the last
remaining member of the family and mothcer of the present
owner passed away in 1982.
