SCHEDULE "A"
.
ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land
and premises situate, lying and being in the Town of Kincardine,
County of Bruce and Province of Ontario and being composed of
part of Lot 1, being a subdivision of Lot 4 south side of Durham
Street, Plan 61, more particularly described as Parts 1 and 2
according to Reference Plan 3R-3345.
SCHEDULE "B"
REASONS: Built by Peter McDonald of Huron Township in 1859. Later,
circa 1919, when property of James Geddes, also of Huron
Township, the west part of this spectacular house was
moved onto the corner lot at Huron Terrace and Durham
Street and became the core of the house now on the
corner lot. The present owner of 860 Huron Terrace is
Betty Carter, a descendant of early settlers of the
Town, who is carrying out extensive renovations restoring
the exterior and interior of the dwelling.
ARCHITECTURAL REASONS: The Architecture of the house is "Carpenter
Gothic" a specimen of the often elaborate sytle of artisan -
builders in the 19th century. The elaborate detail is
noticeable particularly in the self-standing hexagonal
tower with its stained glass windows, the house's ginger-
bread trim and the elaborate finial terminating its
pennacle on the front of the house are features worthy
of preserving. The intricate woodwork on the exterior
also reflects this style of "Carpenter Gothic". The
owner has rebuilt a porch across the front of the house
over the front entrance which blends in with the
original style.
