THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF KINCARDINE BY-LAW NO. 4634 BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF RONALD AND PATRICIA CAPELING AT 779 PRINCES STREET AS BEING OF HISTORIC OR ARCHITECTURAL VALUE. WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980, authorizes the Council of a municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be of historical or architectural value and interest; and WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Kincardine has caused to be served upon the owner of the lands and premises known as the home of Ronald and Patricia Capeling at 779 Princes Street and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notices of intention to so designate the aforesaid real property and has caused such notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having a general circulation in the municipality once for each of three consecutive weeks; and WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out in SChedule "B" hereto; and WHEREAS no notice of objection of the said proposed designation has been servèd upon the Clerk of the Municipality; THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Kincardine ENACTS as follows: 1. There is designated as being of architectural value and interest the real property more particularly described in Schedule "A" hereto, known as the home of Ronald and Patricia Capeling at 779 Princes Street. 2. The Town's Solicitor is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this by-law to be registered against the property described in Schedule "A" hereto in the proper Land Registry Office. 3. The Town is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this By-law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation and to cause notice of this by-law to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the Town of Kincardine. SCHEDULE "A" ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and premises, situate, lying and being FIRSTLY In the Town of Kincardine, in the County of Bruce and Province of Ontario, and being composed of the South half of Lot number Six (6) on the East side of Princes Street in the said Town of Kincardine and being more particularly described as follows: COMMENCING at the South Westerly angle of the said lot number Six (6) ; THENCE Northerly along the Westerly limit of the said lot a distance of Thirty-Three (33) feet; THENCE in an Easterly direction parallel with the Southerly limit of the said lot a distance of One Hundred and Sixty-five (165) feet more or less to the Easterly limit of the said lot; THENCE Southerly along the Easterly limit of the said lot a distance of Thirty-Three (33) feet to the South East angle of said lot; THENCE Westerly along the Southerly limit of the said lot a distance of One Hundred and Sixty-five (165) feet more or less to the point of commencement. SECONDLY In the Town of Kincardine, in the County of Bruce and Province of Ontario and being composed of Lot number Seven (7) on the East side of Princes Street in the said Town of Kincardine. SCHEDULE "B" REASONS: The Coombe house is a reminder of the once booming furniture industry in this Town. The Coombe family, owners of the Coombe Furniture Factory, built the house in 1919. The house remained in the Coombe's name until the 1950's. ARCHITECTURAL REASONS: The Tudor Style is characterized by brick on the lower half and stucco and beams on the upper half. Other notable architectural features include the stained glass and casement windows.
