THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF KINCARDINE
BY-LAW 1987-19
.
BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF
NANCY AND GORDON CARR AT 267 LAMB TON STREET
AS BEING OF HISTORICAL OR ARCHITECTURAL VALUE
WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980, authorizes the council of
a municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property
including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be of
historic or architectural value and interestf and
WHEREAS the Council of the corporation of the Town of Kincardine
has caused to be served on the owner of the lands and premises
known as the home of Nancy and Gordon Carr at 267 Lambton Street
and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notices of intention to
so designate the aforesaid real property and has caused such
notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having general
circulation in the municipality once for each of three
consecutive weeksf and
WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out in Schedule "B"
heretof
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the corporation of the Town of
Kincardine ENACTS as follows:

Kincardine, County of Bruce, being more particularly described as
follows:

REASONS:
267 Lambton Street is an excellent example of Ontario Gothic
architecture. This, the most popular type of Bruce County House
in the late 19th century, features a front dormer with decorative
trim and gothic window, a large front verandah and storey and a
half construction.
The house, which dates back to the 1870's, was built for
approximately $1,200.00 by its original owner, Jonas vanstone.
Some of its best known owners were Robert Baird, John Gettes,
Andrew Malcolm and Dr. Helliwell.
