BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF NANCY AND GORDON CARR AT 267 LAMB TON STREET AS BEING OF HISTORICAL OR ARCHITECTURAL VALUE WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980, authorizes the council of a municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be of historic or architectural value and interestf and WHEREAS the Council of the corporation of the Town of Kincardine has caused to be served on the owner of the lands and premises known as the home of Nancy and Gordon Carr at 267 Lambton Street and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notices of intention to so designate the aforesaid real property and has caused such notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the municipality once for each of three consecutive weeksf and WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out in Schedule "B" heretof NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the corporation of the Town of Kincardine ENACTS as follows: 1. There is designated as interest the real property Schedule "A" hereto, known Carr at 267 Lambton street. being of architectural value and more particularly described in as the home of Nancy and Gordon 2. The clerk is law to be Schedule "A" hereby authorized to registered against hereto in the proper cause a copy the property land registry of this By- described in office. 3. The clerk is hereby authorized to cause a copy of the By-law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation and to cause notice of this By-law to be pUblished in a newspaper having general circulation in the Town of Kincardine. SCHEDULE "A" SCHEDULE FOR DESCRIPTION Part of Lot 7 on the north side of Lambton Street, Town of Kincardine, County of Bruce, being more particularly described as follows: commencing at the north-east angle of said Lot Number Seven, THENCE in a southerly direction along the easterly limit of said Lot to the south-east angle thereof, THENCE westerly along the southerly limit of said Lot a distance of seventy feet six inches (70'6"1, THENCE in a northerly direction parallel to the westerly limit of said Lot to the north limit thereof, THENCE easterly of seventy feet thereof to the 151723. along the northerly limit six inches (70'6"1 to point of commencement, of said Lot a distance the north-east angle as in Instrument No. . . SCHEDULE liB" REASONS: 267 Lambton Street is an excellent example of Ontario Gothic architecture. This, the most popular type of Bruce County House in the late 19th century, features a front dormer with decorative trim and gothic window, a large front verandah and storey and a half construction. The house, which dates back to the 1870's, was built for approximately $1,200.00 by its original owner, Jonas vanstone. Some of its best known owners were Robert Baird, John Gettes, Andrew Malcolm and Dr. Helliwell.
