SCHEDULE "B"
REASONS: The house at 490 Broadway is a good example of a gothic
Revival House. It was erected early in the fourth
quarter of the nineteenth century. The property was
known locally as the "Maple Leaf Cottage" due to the
ornate fence decorated with cast maple leaf and acorn
fittings that once surrounded the property.
The following features of this Gothic revival house are
considered essential for architectural conservation:
I) The sharply pitched gables and decorative gable
ends
2) Rounded windows and keystones above
3) Decorative gingerbread trim
4) Prominent alcove or bay window on the front of the
house.
5) The remaining section of maple leaf decorated
fence.
