THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF KINCARDINE
BY-LAW NO. 1989-42
BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF MARION BELL AT
854 PRINCES STREET AS BEING OF HISTORIC OR
ARCHITECTURAL VALUE.
WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980, authorizes the council of
a municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property
including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be of
historic or architectural value and interest;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Kincardine has caused to be served on the owner of the lands and
premises known as the home of Marion Bell at 854 Princes Street
and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notices of intention to
so designate the aforesaid real property and has caused such
notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having general
circulation in the municipality once for each of three
consecutive weeks;
AND WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out in Schedule
"B" hereto;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Kincardine ENACTS as follows:
1. There is designated as being of architectural value and
interest the real property more particularly described in
Schedule "A" hereto, known as the home of Marion Bell at 854
Princes Street.
2. The cler k is hereby author i zed to cause a copy of th is By-
law to be reg istered against the property descr ibed in
Schedule "A" hereto in the proper land registry office.
3. The cler k is hereby authori zed to cause a copy of the By-
law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property
and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation and to cause notice
of this By-law to be published in a newspaper having general
circulation in the Town of Kincardine.
READ a FIRST and SECOND time this 6th day of April, 1989.

SCHEDULE FOR DESCRIPTION
ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land, situate,
lying and being in the Town of Kincardine, County of Bruce and
being composed of the south part of Lot 15, plan 61, west side of
Princes St., Town of Kincardine, County of Bruce

SCHEDULE "B"
REASONS:
The storey and one hal f house known as 854 pr inces Street
was originally built in the Gothic Revival style ca. 1858.
The following features are considered essential for
architectural conservation:
steeply pitched roof with front centered gable
pointed arch (Gothic) front upper window with raised brick
surround
wooden soffit and facia
arched window front entrances doorway (inside porch)
enclosed small pane windowed porch adapted from an earlier
original open sided porch with forward protruding entrance
wooden shiplap cladded summer kitchen at rear of house
