THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF KINCARDINE BY-LAW BY-LAW NO. 1991-70 TO BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF ALVA STORM POYNTER 423 DURHAM STREET, TOWN OF KINCARDINE, COUNTY OF BRUCE, AS BEING OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL VALUE. WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980 authorizes the council of a municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be of historic or architectural value and interest; and AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Kincardine has caused to be served on the owner of the lands and premises known as the home of Alva storm Poynter, 423 Durham street, Town of Kincardine, County of Bruce; and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notice of intention to so designate the aforesaid real property; and has caused such notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the municipality once for each of four consecutive weeks; AND WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out in Schedule "B" attached hereto; NOW THEREFORE the Council for The Corporation of the Town of Kincardine ENACTS as follows: 1. There is designated as being of architectural value and interest the real property more particularly described in Schedule "A" hereto, known as the home of Alva Storm Poynter, 423 Durham street, Town of Kincardine, County of Bruce. 2. The clerk is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this by-law to be registered against the property described in Schedule "A" hereto in the proper land registry office. 3. The clerk is hereby authorized to cause of copy of this By-law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation and to cause notice of this By-law to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the Town of Kincardine. 4. BY-LAW NO. 1991-70 SCHEDULE A SCHEDULE FOR DESCRIPTION ALL AND SINGULAR that a certain parcel or tract of land lying and being in the Town of Kincardine in the County of Bruce and being composed of the West half of Lot Number eighteen (18) on the North Side of Durham Street in the said Town of Kincardine. . . BY-LAW NO. 1991-70 SCHEDULE B REASONS FOR DESIGNATION Lot No. 18, 423 Durham street, Town of Kincardine, County of Bruce, was built in approximately 1857 by Charles Wedder. The architectural design was typical of the period 2 storey with decorative carvings on barge boards and dormers; ontario Gothic Architecture 'L' plan with verandah; and some features of English design with areas of fancy woodwork below the roof line characterize the home and windows with rounded headers.
