THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF KINCARDINE
BY-LAW
BY -LAW NO. 1998 - 62
A BY-LAW TO AMEND THE TOWN OF KINCARDINE
ROAD NAMING BY-LAW
WHEREAS By-law No. 1998-08 was passed on the 5th day of March, 1998 to establish a
complete road naming system in the Town of Kincardine:
AND WHEREAS the Council for The Corporation of the Town of Kincardine deems it
expedient to amend the By-law;
NOW THEREFORE the Council for The Corporation of the Town of Kincardine
ENACTS as follows:
1. That the following articles be added to By-law 1998-08:
7. The owner of the property shall ensure that every building has the assigned
municipal, number posted in accordance with the provisions of this By-law.
8. The owner of the property shall ensure that every number shall be affixed or
inscribed in plain and legible numbers at least 12.7 centimeters (5 inches) high
and such numbers shall be placed at the main entrance of the building and on
the side of the building facing the street or highway, placed not higher that the
first story thereof.
9. Where the main building is located beyond 30 meters (100 feet) of the
highway allowance or the main building is obscured üom the highway by
trees, buildings, corps, etc., the building number shall be placed on a
contrasting plate attached to a post at a height of at least 1.5 meters (5 feet)
above the ground at the üont of the property line adjacent to the building's
laneway, unobstructed by mailboxes, etc.
10. In the event that the owner of the property fails to post the building numbers
as directed by the Chief Building official, the municipal staff may enter upon
the property and post the building number in accordance with the By-law and
the cost shall be paid by the owner of the land in a like manner as taxes. If the
cost is paid by the occupant, subject to an agreement between him and the
owner, it may be deducted rrom the rent payable to the owner.
11. The owner of the property shall keep and maintain in good condition the
building number and, where applicable, the contrasting plates.

PROHffiITIONS
12. No person shall refuse to post the building number when required to do so by
the Chief Building Official.
13. No person shall remove, deface, obliterate or destroy the building numbers
and applicable plates installed in accordance with item 8 and 9 of this By-
Law, except for the purpose of replacing said numbers and plates or
correcting errors.
ENFORCEMENT
14. Fine - for contravention
Any person who contravenes any provIsIon of this By-law is, upon
conviction, guilty of an 'offence and is liable to any penalty as provided in the
Provincial Offences Act.

That this by-law shall come into full force and effect upon its final passage.

That this By-law may be cited as the ""Civic Addressing System (911)
Amendment By-law, November 1998".
