Z.?l'i , BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE HOME OF DANIEL $HOWALTER AND MARIE SHOWALTER at 255 Durham Street of ARCHITECTURAL I VALUE. ! WHEREAS the Ontario Heritáge Act, 1974 authOriZ¡S the Council of a municipality to enact By-laws to designate re 1 property, in- cluding all the buildings and structures thereo , to be in historic or Architectural value or interest; an ! WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the T wn of Kincardine has caused to be served upon the owner of the 1 nds and premises known as the home of Daniel and Marie Showalter at 255 Durham St. and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation notice of intention to so designate the aforesaid real property and has c used such notice of intention to be published in a newspaper hav ng a general circulation in the municipality once for each 0 three consecutive weeks; and I , i WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set out I in Schedule "B" hereto, and , WHEREAS no notice of objection to the said proppsed designation has been served upon the clerk of the Municipal~ ty; , THEREFORE, The Council of the Corporation of th~ Town of Kincardine enacts as follows: I There is designated as being of architec ural value or interest the real property more partie rly described in Schedule nA: hereto, known as the hom of Daniel Showalter and Marie Showalter at 255 Dur am Street. The Town Solicitor is hereby authorized ~o cause a copy of this By-law to be registered against he property described in Schedule nAn hereto in the roper land registry office. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized to c use a copy of this By-law to be served upon the owner f the aforesaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage F undation and to cause notice of this By-law to be pub ished in a newspaper having general circulation in he Town of Kincardine. I , The exterior is very ornate with beautiful ston work all around the windows and doors, and elaborate stone quoi s on the corners. The brick work was done in the stretcher bond m thod of brick laying wi th stone carvings around the windows. The wi dows are original sash windows. The house is in a "T" form, with a beautiful porch which has gothic wooden arches that are used fo protection as well as decoration. I Schedule "E" THE REASONS FOR THE PROPOSED DESIGNATION: - . The interior still retains much of its original beauty, its main feature bèing~the skylight which is located dir ctly above the main staircase. The broad stair case shows the beau y that once went into the construction of these beautiful homes. . .
