BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE THE ARDLOCH LODGE (ROYAL CANADIAN LEGIOX BRAKCH #183) at 219 LaIIbton Street of ~HITECTURAL VALUE. WHEREAS The Ontario Heritage Act, 1974., author: .zes the Council of a municipality to enact by-laws to designate r,al property, in- cluding all the buildings and structures there~n, to be of historic or architectural value or interest; and WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the own of Kincardine has caused to be served upon the owner of the ands and premises known as the Ardloch Lodge, Royal Canadian Leg on #183 at 219 Laabton Street and upon the Ontario Heritage F undation notice of intention to so designate the aforesaid re property and has caused such notice of intention to be publ shed in a news- paper having a general circulation in the muni~ipality once for each of three consecutive weeks; and WHEREAS the reasons for designation are set ou~ in Schedule "B" hereto; and . I WHEREAS no notieeof objection to the said propOsed designation has been served upon the clerk of the municipåiity; THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of t~e Town of Kincardine enacts as follows: . There is designated as being of architectural value or interest the real property more particularly descriþed in Schedule "A" hereto, known as the Ardlock Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion #183 at 219 Lambton Street. The Town Solicitor is hereby authorized to¡cause a copy of this by-law to be registered against the ptoperty described in Schedule "A" hereto in the proper land tegistry office. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized to cau~e a copy of this by-law to be served upon the owner of the ~foresaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation a~d to cause notice of this by-law to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the Town of Kincardine. Clifton Loscomb, an early successful professional maniof the Town, is recommended for designation because of itslhistorical association with Sir Alexander MacKenzie. Mrf MacKenzie, who used Ardloch as a summer home, is the on1 native of Kincardine and Bruce County to have been knig ted. Possibly the greatest importance of Ard10ch i in the terms of Streetscape for the building and itslgrounds dominate the surroundings and remind one of ~ important era in the Town's history. - · · ·
